Edinburgh Fringe: *NZINGA WARRIOR QUEEN* Premiered in 2014 and back for another run at the 2016 Edinburgh Fringe, Mara Menzies' Nzinga Warrior Queen is the first ever Scottish theatre production to feature a powerful African woman as the protagonist. Blending dance, live music, and storytelling, it is inspired by the real story of 17th-century Angolan queen Nzinga, who resisted the Portuguese colonisers and successfully kept control of her land throughout her entire life. 4th-19th August (not 10th), Scottish Storytelling Centre, 3pm.
