The competition is open to any student registered for a postgraduate degree at any institution in the world on the closing date for submission (30 April 2011). POSTCOLONIALISM, ECONOMIES, CRISES: INTERDISCIPLINARY PERSPECTIVES CLOSING DATE FOR PROPOSALS: 30 NOVEMBER The 2011 conference of the Postcolonial Studies Association will be held at the University of Birmingham on 7-8 July 2011. Proposals for papers on the theme of ‘Postcolonialism, Economies, Crises’ are invited from scholars from any discipline with an interest in postcolonial studies. The Postcolonial Studies Association and Journal of Postcolonial Writing are pleased to announce that the first winner of the PSA/JPW Postgraduate Essay Prize is:  JOSHUA MCNAMARA of the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London. Joshua’s essay, “Against ‘Third Cinema’: The Non-revolutionary Revolution of Ian Gabriel’s Forgiveness” was described by the judges of the prize as ‘theoretically astute and lucid’, ‘eloquently written, intelligent and well-structured’ and ‘sophisticated and authoritative’.
