The Postcolonial Studies Association and Journal of Postcolonial Writing are pleased to announce that the first winner of the PSA/JPW Postgraduate Essay Prize is:
JOSHUA MCNAMARA
of the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London.
Joshua’s essay, “Against ‘Third Cinema’: The Non-revolutionary Revolution of Ian Gabriel’s Forgiveness” was described by the judges of the prize as ‘theoretically astute and lucid’, ‘eloquently written, intelligent and well-structured’ and ‘sophisticated and authoritative’.
Joshua wins £250 in prize money, and his essay will appear shortly in Journal of Postcolonial Writing.
Congratulations to Joshua, and thanks to all those who participated.
The prize is to be offered on an annual basis. The second competition will be open from 1 October 2010 and the deadline for submissions will be 31 March 2011.
